Happy Fall Y’all!! The temps have finally cooled off & the sweaters are officially out of hiding! As you can probably tell, I purchase a lot of my sweaters, blouses, and basics from H&M. The prices are great & I have never had an issue with quality! BUT I get asked a lot about the sizing so I wanted to do a quick guide for y’all as well as share some of my favorite Fall items with you!
In the past, their sizing was a little all over the place — you might be a size 2 in one top and a size 8 in another, it was crazy! The company recently updated their women’s sizing guide & I definitely feel like it runs more true to size! I have had a lot more luck lately with things fitting properly in my “true size” and it’s pretty consistent piece by piece. Here is a rundown of how I purchase…
Sweaters: I typically size down and end up with an XS. A lot of their sweaters run oversized & cozy which I actually prefer! If it a more fitted sweater, I stick with a small!
Blouses: A size small is typical for me in a blouse — for H&M this translates to a size 2 or 4. If I’m shopping online (which I normally do) I take a look at how fitted the top is & if I feel like I will need more room in the chest (I have a large chest for reference!) then I size up to a 4. If it seems more flowy, I stick with a 2!
Dresses: I tend to stay away from “fitted” dresses, I just prefer a looser style versus a bodycon style. Most of their dresses are number sized, so I would typically purchase a size 2. If it looks a little more fitted, I size up to a 4!
Jackets/Blazers: I find that your true size (for me this is a small) is normally best in these items, I have never had a problem with the fit of their jackets & love how affordable they are!
Denim: Their denim runs pretty true to size, most everything I get is a size 25. However if you are purchasing a looser pair of denim, such as a boyfriend jean, I would suggest sizing down as these tend to run larger!
Pants/Skirts: To be honest, this is what I buy the least of from this retailer. I typically have to size up to clear the booty, but then the waist ends up being too big. What I suggest doing if you are ordering a pair of pants or skirt is to get two sizes so you can see which you like best. Which leads me into my next point…
They ALWAYS offer free shipping with a $40 purchase so if I still cant decide between sizes, I order two sizes of the same piece (which almost always gets me to free shipping,) try them on at home, & return the other IN-STORE. They include a return shipping label if you don’t have a location near you but I love that I can do all returns at our local store.
Everything you’ve seen linked throughout this post us under $100, and most is under $50! If you have specific sizing questions on these pieces, feel free to reach out! I hope this post answer your questions and helps you find a few items you’ll love for Fall!
